After a few years, the calendar deletes all of the items I've added to the calendar. I like to go back and use the calendar to remind me of past events, doc appts, trips, etc.. Is there a way to have the calendar retain all items after this 2 year period? I swear that past calendars never deleted old items.

I use this Samsung calendar.. If I used the Google calendar would it retain all past items over 2 years?

Google Calendar doesn't automatically delete history. Specifically, events and entries you've added remain saved indefinitely.

Google calendar on the phone syncs with your Google account. On the phone, I can only view events going back 3 years.  However, all the events remain in your Google account.  To view them, you will have to open a web browser (best on a computer) and go to calendar.google.com.  I do not believe there is a way to view Samsung's calendar online.  If you switch to Google calendar and sync your Google calendar with your Samsung calendar, your current events should all transfer over.  Then you can add your events on either calendar, but check your historical events through the web version of Google calendar.  You do not have to set one calendar as your default, you can use them interchangeably if they are synced.  I do not know if the historical data is gone from Samsung's calendar or will be synced to Google.
