I just want to see the time.

I have Double tap to wake and Lift to wake on. I also have accidental touch protection off.

Double tap sometimes turns the phone on. Lift to wake never turns the phone on. (I lift it maybe 3" from table or nightstand and turn it towards me)

I have a s24fe Global edition with all The updates.

My previous phone (Motorola, $50) I tap once and wakes up to show me the time.

Why can't I do that simple thing on this $400 phone?

Use the AOD if you just want to see the time.  I use the AOD as a bedside clock and as an easy way to see the time without opening the phone screen.  The AOD uses negligible battery resources, so it should not be an issue.  As for raise to wake, I think it needs more than a 3" lift and a near vertical movement, but it actually should wake when movement is detected. Double tap to wake requires two rapid taps: taptap not tap, tap. and should be done with one finger only.

AOD is always-on display. Turn it on in settings > lock screen and AOD.

"AOD is not available while Power savings is on"

doh.
Does Power savings also interfere with Lift to wake?

I guess i'll stick with double tap then press the power button if that doesnt work to view time

I personally don't care for AOD and have always used double-tap to wake.

It might.  Having power saving on may delay some actions.  However, there is absolutely NO reason to put power saving on as an every day setting.  One usually puts power saving on (or it goes on automatically) when the power dips below a certain level.  It does nothing when your battery is adequately charged.  You can turn power saving off, or you can  exclude the AOD from power saving.  Go to settings/battery/power saving and turn off the slider for Always On Display to exclude it from power saving.

How does power savings go on automatically? Or you have to set up a rule to do that?

Thx about turning off aod in power savings. I have it set to auto (always unless it dark like a pocket)

Power saving is set to go on automatically when the battery level goes into the red zone - at about 12%. It gives you enough time to get to a charger before the phone dies. It's hard coded.

You can't change the red zone %?
On my Motorola, i set Power savings to kick in at 29%.
