📸 “Camera Failed” on S24 Ultra After Update — Ultrawide (.6x) Completely Broken

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone else has seen this — after the latest software update, my S24 Ultra’s 0.6x ultrawide camera completely stopped working. Every time I open it, I get a “Camera failed” message, and now the entire camera app crashes more often than not.

Here’s what I’ve already done (per Samsung Support):

• Force stopped & restarted the Camera app
• Cleared cache and data
• Reset camera settings
• Updated all apps and system software
• Booted in Safe Mode
• Wiped the cache partition

Unfortunately, after the last step, it actually got worse — the camera now fails across multiple modes.

I’ve been an Android user for over 20 years and have never had an update break a core function like this. It’s incredibly frustrating since I rely on my phone’s camera daily.

Has anyone else experienced this after the update? Is Samsung aware of a patch or replacement program being worked on for this issue?

Trying to see if any other users have experienced this issue and know of a solution. 

Yes. I have soft and hard reset, factory reset, updates including one pushed out earlier this week. Cleared cache force stopped and even disabled then reenabled the app. The device is VZ branded and unlocked but that shouldn't make a difference. The failing is random. Any tips to fix is greatly appreciated.

Are you getting an error message?  Have you run a diagnostic on the camera?  Have you downloaded and tried a different camera app (to determine if it's the app or the camera itself)?

Had a rep help me. Ended up downloading another app for the camera expert roll from the samsung app it self and it worked meanwhile until they get the app back running most likely till next update they said i9 that's coming soon

You may find you like the app you are using now better and might not even want to switch back.

Today ive started experiencing a "Camera Failed" issue where if i opem camera to rear it works, but if trying to switch my front facing/ "selfie" camera through the camera app itself (or any other 3rd party apps) I get a UI message saying the camera has Failed. Anyone experience this? fixes? causes?

yes, ironically after watching a YT video I was able to get it working again. channel name is "informative media" video titled "Warning camera failed..." skip to 5:20

im blown away this method actually worked, it seemed so silly and trivial but my camera's working again after that

My back camera of my s24 says camera failed whenever I switch to it but my front camera works fine. If someone could please help me, I was wondering what could be wrong with it?
