So I have made some important selfie with me holding a paper and my ID card and made sure all is nicely in view, but after taking the photo when I viewed it it cropped itself! Why the heck is this happening and what kind of silly automation is this? I had to retake it only for it to be cropped again, but this time less, so fortunately it was usable.

Are you sure everything was in the frame? Which part of the photo was cropped, your face or the document?

sorry man I am being serious here. I said the photo was cropped - therefore it was. Here I managed to simulate it for you to see it clearly

before it cropped it even worse, so I had to take it again and this time have some space under the card so when it cropped, it was still completely in the picture. Pretty annoying feature!

I'm sorry, I can't view your link as my malware scanner says it's risky.  I only asked what was cropped.  Was your head chopped off?  Was only your head and not the document in the photo?  You can go to your camera settings and turn off all auto enhancement features.  There are certain shooting modes, especially with selfies, that will automatically focus on the face, not anything in the background or other incidentals.  Since, I have a lower model phone, I do not have the same camera settings as you do, as the S23 has more advanced enhancement features.  I tried taking a selfie with my camera holding a document, and had no issue with cropping.  Everything that I had in focus was in the shot.

that's funny, because I am sharing photos this way with many people and nobody said they have a problem with it. It's my home server and no, it's not risky. So I think it would be much faster if you just disabled that weird nervous malware scanner for a moment and actually look at the video I provided, instead of writing this long useless reply...

or if you have a problem on your PC, open it with your phone.

I'm not opening unknown links if my malware scanner says no.. sorry I couldn't be more help. Put in an error report or look to see what your camera settings are that may be causing it. This app allows you to upload and post photos without the need for third party links

What kind of weird malware scanner is it? The internet is full of unknown links 😅 If you never click on something which is unknown you would not be able to see anything. Jeez!

Can I attach a video file to this error report?

Really isn't there someone else on this forum who can view my recording and just comment on it?

I use Malwrebytes. Have been using it iver 20 years. It does not give false positives. It's not weird. It's one of the i industry's best. I don't know you, and I am not going to open your link. You don't need a recording to demonstrate your weird cropping issue. A photo would suffice. You can attach a video to your error report, but not a link. Your post had 211 views. If someone else was going to comment, they would have.

well, then this might be the first false positive, because there is nothing wrong with that link.

Anyway just for you I have uploaded this video also on YouTube, so I hope this link will be fine 😉Video is necessary so you clearly see in what moment it happens. If I just posted a photo you would not see anything weird

So, I looked at your video.  It looks like you are holding your ID too low in the frame and slightly lowering it as you take the shot. There is also, just like with old film cameras, a margin that does not get photographed. This happens with selfies taken close up.  I had to put my phone on a stand so that I could sit further away and set the shutter timer for a 10 second countdown so I could position myself properly. The resulting shot does not look weirdly cropped.  It actually shows enough of the ID to be acceptable for whatever purpose you were taking the photo for.  Try either holding it a little higher, or taping it to your shirt and see what happens.  What I would likely do if I couldn't get it right, would be to take a shot of the ID and then take a selfie and crop the ID into the selfie.
