Galaxy S23This is their response after I asked Google about the latest Android update that has rendered the pre-installed Samsung Visual Voicemail app inoperable. The VV app was working until the last systemwide Android update.

Newest systemwide Android update conflict
I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphone. The newest Android system update at the beginning of May, 2025, has caused a software coding conflict with the pre-installed Samsung Visual Voicemail app. The app will not open at all. Error message is "Visual Voicemail keeps stopping." This app cannot be uninstalled and reinstalled. Doing all of Samsung's technical support troubleshooting steps offered no help. Doing my cell service provider's technical support steps offered no help. Clearing the cache/data for the app, resetting all settings, and restarting the phone offered no help. This is an issue that needs to be corrected with the newest systemwide update to the Android operating system.

You should Contact Samsung Phones Support
Samsung phones run their own proprietary version of Android, and their own proprietary user interface. Samsung devices often have proprietary apps that behave differently from similar apps on other Android phones.

Already spoke to them. They go round and round insisting that the Visual Voicemail is controlled by the makers of the operating system, i.e., not them. My phone service provider said the same. Now, you're sending me back to them. Bottom line: The Samsung pre-installed Visual Voicemail was working until the latest Android system update. So, the software coding conflict needs to be fixed.

This is the process for distributing Android versions: Google creates the original version and sends it to manufacturers. Manufacturers then customize it as needed and release their own version. They are responsible for the Android updates.

So, to Samsung: fix your proprietary version of the newest Android operating system and release an update so your Samsung Visual Voicemail app does not remain inoperable with the error message "Visual Voicemail keeps stopping."

Galaxy S23Samsung releases updates to carriers who push it out to their users after some testing on their networks. If you're having issues with VM, then it is up to your carrier to resolve the issue for you.

Galaxy S23Yeah, that's what Samsung says. My carrier just runs through troubleshooting on my phone and, when none of that works, makes an amorphous remark about sending it to their technical team, and then it vanishes into the ether.

Galaxy S23@Members_bFxSTfN I hated the carrier and built in VVM. I created a Google Voice number and I use that as my voicemail. Just forward your calls on no answer, not available, etc to the Google Voice number. Google voice provides an email, a recording and a transcript. The app and web page allow you to easily see, play, and manage your recordings.

Galaxy S23This is insane! Verizon has been trying to fix it. They have no app to support visual Voicemail. The app i have no longer works either. The agents at the Verizon store said they did away with that app. Who knows??? Total frustration!

Galaxy S23Why is it so hard to for Samsumg, Android and our carriers to figure out? I'm on Familymobile/Verizon (work discount). I can access the normal voicemail through the phone app, dialing the voicemail how it used to be, but push notifications for it don't come through. I have notifications allowed in the phone app that's supposed show me that I have a voicemail.

Galaxy S23If you are not getting notifications that you have a voicemail in your voicemailbox, that is a disconnect between your VM sending a notification to the phone, and should be addressed by your carrier. As for VVM apps, if your carrier chooses to not have one, that's a decision they made.

Galaxy S23You need to contact your carrier. All things voicemail related is on them. They may not allow visual voicemail or they may have an app of their own, or your voicemailbox itself is not set up properly.
