Galaxy S23Apple also uses similar phrase like "optical-quality zoom" for cropping the 48MP sensor for 2x zoom.

Galaxy S23This crop zoom discards pixels to achieve the zoom.
Samsung should have put a period after sensor and dropped the rest.
And someone could argue "Oh, but pixel binning, blah blah" etcetera, but on an all other things being equal basis, the statement isn't true

Galaxy S23OK. But I think there is something at work here.
I can take better picture by the main camera zoomed in, than the 3x zoom lens.
What I do is that, I'll use the main lens to take a picture with lit zoom (1.5 or 2) then I'll open the photo in gallery, zoom in a bit more and run remaster. This way I get better result than 3x zoom

Galaxy S23Samsung is conflating lens/sensor/software to make its claim about the 2x.

Galaxy S23Do I have a comparison between a non-existent 2x lens and the 2x crop ?
Is this a serious question ?
