Hi,

Samsung S23 Ultra.

Phone is locking the camera up when I zoom in standard 12x.  Move to 50 or 200 and fine albeit limited to 6x zoom.

If I hit 10x from the camera screen it zooms but there's lag.  If I hit x3 or .6 it freezes.  Sometimes I get 'camera failed', or a few other msgs.

Camera gets locked for a short while then opens again but the same same.

6 .1 and can't revert to anything with Odin etc

Anyone help?

Have you tried clearing the camera cache = go to device settings > apps > camera > storage > tap clear cache

If that step doesn't seem to help,
Try wiping the cache partition. It's safe and won't remove your settings or app files. Clearing the cache partition can help resolve any performance issues caused by old or corrupted system cache data.

Follow the steps below,

Clear the cache partition
- Turn the phone off (shut down)
- Press and hold the Volume Up key, then press and hold the Side key.
- When the Android system recovery menu options show release buttons.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press Side key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, then press the Side key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Side key to restart the device. Recovery-Mode-on-Samsung-Phone_1000000612_1728437754.jpg

Hello, welcome to the Community, and thanks for reaching out. I can certainly understand the frustration with your camera freezing, lagging, and even displaying the "Camera failed" error message. If your phone is displaying a "Camera Failed" message, freezing, lagging, or the preview is not working, the good news is that it's most likely a software issue and not a physical problem with the camera. Give the steps in this guide a try in addition to what @MrGhoul suggested: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01001329/

If the troubleshooting is not helpful, the phone will need to be evaluated by a certified technician.
