Galaxy S23After a major update, additional background processes related to the update can temporarily cause the device to run hotter than usual.
☆ Follow Samsung’s Best Practices Guide
In particular, clearing device cache is an important practice in order to clean up junk files and keep things running smooth. This step resolves the vast majority of issues you'll encounter, especially after a major update.
See the guide here: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/Best-Practices-After-an-Update/ba-p/3200871?src=Shar...
☆ Use Samsung’s Good Guardians
Download Good Guardians and run its various modules. These modules optimize performance and can identify unusual behavior.
Download Good Guardians here: https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.android.samsung.utilityapp
Thermal Guardian can monitor your device temp and identify the cause of any excessive heating.
App Booster re-optimizes your apps. This should be run after an update.
Memory Guardian helps clear up device memory and boost performance.
If the device is actually overheating and consistently shuts itself off, you may consider visiting a certified Samsung repair center to fully diagnose the issue and have any required repairs completed by a certified technician.

Galaxy S23Hot to the touch may feel disturbing, but it's really not a big deal unless it's too hot. The phones, being small spaces, dissipate heat through the screen. The screen itself also generates heat, so the longer you have your screen on, the hotter it's going to feel. If it gets uncomfortably hot, just give the screen a rest by turning it off and putting down the phone. Environmental factors can also play a part - if you have the screen on outdoors on a hot day, it doesn't get much opportunity to get rid of the heat. As @CEParsons said, Good Guardians is the best way to keep track of your phone's core heat - which is the only heat that really counts.
