Galaxy S23Samsung,
When I buy a Samsung phone I want the option to use all Samsung apps. If I want to use Google apps, I'll get a Pixel phone. Please keep developing your apps, even the messaging app. I know Google made/supports Android but please give your users/supporters a choice to use Samsung Apps.
Thank you

It's Android you can use whatever you want.
Google is finally unifying messaging after over a decade of getting laughed at. Google messages on a Samsung device is a forked version not the actual Google version.

Where does it say that Google Messages on a Samsung phone is a forked version? Google still gets access to your contacts and data either way using Google Messages. IMO, Samsung should continue to update their Message app as it is a Samsung phone.

Bottom of app information for Google messages. The non Samsung forked version doesn't have the "reachable top conversation" (the big G logo that takes up half the screen when you are on the main screen). As well as "text on Galaxy devices" under the advanced settings.
Android is still owned by Google. We are finally getting messaging unification in Android which has been awful at messaging since Android launched.
Ideally Google will release the API for RCS messages so 3rd party messaging apps can use it.
You don't have to use Google messages, you don't even have to use Samsung messages, those are just preinstalled. You can use whatever you want, it's android. You just won't get RCS capabilities
