Gallery Change Picture of a Person

When I go to the search in the Gallery, some of the pictures of individual people are of poor quality. I want to change that default picture how do I do that?

It displays the last photo or video of that person. You can bypass that by selecting the photo you want as their icon, and editing the date to a future date (Jan 1 2026, for example). Then, that photo should move up and stay up until that date.

Thank you! I realized that the most recent date pic came up but was hoping I could edit the picture. Putting a "fake date" on pictures somewhat ruins date searching. Google photos allows picture editing and I was hoping Samsung was as progressive as Google in that area. I very much appreciate your response!

1. Select an album

2. From the three-dots menu in the upper right corner, tap "Album settings".

3. Tap "Change cover image"

You now have the option to select the most recent image, or pick a specific photo.

That is for an album. Op asked about about the main picture for someone in the people list - the one you can use to search pictures including a specific person
