My text message app has changed what it looks like. It used to be I pinned certain people's names toalways  be at the top.

Of the list .

Now I can find them among all the new texts.I get.

This happened after the new update.Just recently.

Can someone help me retrieve the old method

Google messages allows you to pin conversations. Using Gmessages will give you this feature and much, much more.

I use the blue drop with white circles. Not sure whose that is. Ne er had problem before update

The blue drop with the circles is Samsung messages.  Samsung messages is sporadically being supported and features appear and disappear, as Samsung is disinclined to continue the app.  This feature may be one of the disappearing ones.  Switching to Google Messages will allow you this feature.  I just tested in Samsung messages, where the ability to pin may have been easier to find in the past, I find it in the dot menu on the bottom right of the screen.  Long press the chat you want to pin, select any other chats you want to pin, tap the dot menu that says "more" and then select "pin to top"
