Yesterday I got an update, Verizon, and ever since then, my screen will not time out. Out of habit I just leave my phone sitting and I can come back half an hour later and my screen is still on and not even dimming.

Have you cleared the cache partition or did an optimization?

I'm sure you've done this, but I'm going to ask anyway. Did you look to see if by any chance after the update the screen timeout got set to "never"?  I know that after my update some settings reverted or changed, but not all of them--I think you have to find out which as they happen.  For instance, the update reverted to turn off the notification categories and it has to be turned back on if you want to change individual app sounds rather than have the default notification sound.  So, you may have to go through settings and see if any you changed got turned on/off after the update.

That was the first thing I checked. Even changed the setting to 1 minute instead of 30 seconds and then back. Also did a restart with no success.

THANK YOU! Wipe cache partition did fix it. I haven't had to load into the boot menu since my gingerbread days. Didn't even cross my mind to go in there.

I've been seeing on here that it is prudent to do it after each update, because the updates add more clutter to the partition while downloading and installing.  If my answer helped you, would you mind marking it as the solution?

Today I heard a low beep when my phone bottomed out to 15%.
That's the low battery notification
