For awhile now, when I receive a text message, it only makes a sound occasionally. It's frustrating because I don't know one came through. Yes my sounds are up, all my setting are set to receive sound notification. Oh, it is a S22 Ultra.
Thank you

You can try a couple of troubleshooting steps for this issue. You can restart your phone. A simple reboot can often clear up little glitches. Another step would be to clear your message app's cache: open device settings (cogwheel icon)>apps>Messages> storage>clear cache/force stop. See if either of these steps help.

I have restarted my phone several times. I will try to clear the cache. Where it says force stop will it automatically restart that? I'm not sure what all that means.

It's very annoying because it causes you to miss text messages until a while after the fact and sometimes that creates a problem. I need a fix for this.

Hello Belaythatorder, thank you for your feedback. I understand your frustrations with your notification sounds not working correctly on your device. I see where you stated that you cleared the cache for the messaging app and that you restart your device, but it did not resolve the issue. Have you tried clearing the cache partition on your device: Power off your device, Hold the Power and Volume Up buttons together at the same time, Once the Samsung logo appears then release the Power button, Select Clear Cache Partition, Reboot your device as normal. You can also try your device in Safe Mode to see if there is a third party app causing the issue: Booting your Samsung Galaxy into Safe mode | Samsung CA. Check your notification sound settings: Configure notifications from apps and services. To find this, swipe down from the top of the screen, and then tap the Settings icon. Tap Notifications, and then tap Advanced settings. You can configure the available settings, such as Show notification icons, Show battery percentage, Notification history, Conversations, Floating notifications, Show snooze button, App icon badges, and Wireless emergency alerts. Change the sound mode on your device without using the Volume buttons. To find this, swipe down from the top of the screen, and then tap the Settings icon. Tap Sounds and vibration, and then select a mode. You can select from Sound, Vibrate, or Mute.

If you are still experiencing issues after performing the above troubleshooting steps then I recommend that you perform a factory data reset, please be sure to back up your device before performing the reset: Perform a factory reset on your Galaxy phone or tablet.

After performing the factory data reset if you are still not able to get notification sounds then submit an error report: Samsung Members, Get Help, Send Feedback, Error Report.
