No Dates, Just Titles (For Screenshots?)

So ever since I had a software update on my S22 Ultra, the screenshots I take directly from a video are titled from that specific video instead of the given date. For instance, today is 05/28/2025, and that's what it used to include in the title, or something similar, but instead, the screenshot title is virtually the same as the specific video's title. This makes it a bit harder to look for the a specific screenshot. Why is that, and how do I change the settings?

You can edit both the title and date.  Pull up the info in the Gallery (select video/photo, tap on the circled "i" at the bottom, tap edit)

I'm kinda referring to the sort by option. In other words, when the shots were takes, the date was include in the title. But now the video title is used for the screen shot, it's partially out of order.

If you change the date, it should end up searchable by that date.  It may not be because the DCIM folder in the file manager uses the date a shot was created or modified, so, your clip should be in order by the date it was clipped.  If the gallery sort goes strictly by the date in the info field, it should also sort by the date you changed it to.  I am not sure which file the date sort goes by, the metadata or the file creation date.

This is actuallly what I want!! I want my screenshots to hold the name of the video. And I can't figure out to do it. Wanna trade phones?

I don't think that will be necessary. I'm pretty much used to it now.

If  you take a screen shot of a video frame, you can just edit the info field to change the name of the file to the name of the video.  Tap the circled "i" under the photo to bring up the metadata.  Choose edit on the photo name and change it to what you want.

I know. But when you're editing videos all day on your phone, it would be a huge time saver.

Since the beginning of the smart phone and digital camera era, all manufacturers have a naming convention for photos, usually some variation of the date the photo was taken, sometimes with a prefix indicating the manufacturer name to indicate the device used (such as SAM20251205_001).  This is usually because when taking a photo, one does not name the shot during the process, but rather when editing later.  Many people NEVER go to the metadata to rename a photo.
