Hi all,

I've recently noticed that my fast charging are not charging my phone at the fast rate that it shows. My s22U when plugged in to my super fast charger or fast charger displays an estimated time until it reaches full charge. I've noticed for example even though it may show 28 minutes it will take at least an additional 10 minutes or more before it reaches full charge. I was wondering what happen to the speed and accuracy of the charge. What gives? Please provide me with any known solutions or fixes that will help resolve this problem. I want to thank you in advance.

Fast/super fast charging only takes place when you start charging when the battery is below a certain level (not sure what it is, I think 20% - might be 10). When the battery reaches about 50%, the charging rate slows to normal. The time to full charge will change as the charge rate changes. When you first plug it in, the phone assumes it will continue charging at the same rate and calculates accordingly, then when the charging rate changes, so does the estimated time. It also will change the estimate if you are using your phone while it's charging.

Could this also be heat-related? Meaning that if it is a hot day and the phone is hotter than normal would that also affect the rate of charge? Overall it seems to have been a change in how fast it would charge as opposed to the past. I'm looking forward to upgrading the S26U when it comes out.

External heat may very well have a negative effect on the charging rate. If the battery is too hot  (unlikely from external heat), the charging will slow down.  This is why the super fast charging changes to normal charging when the phone reaches half charge - remaining at fast charging will heat up the battery, and likely shorten its life span.  Fast/superfast charging is only meant to give your phone a quick boost so that you can gain functionality until you can give your phone a proper full charge.  The best thing to do, is if you have been using your phone outdoors, in direct sunlight on a hot day for an extended period (that will certainly deplete your battery faster than normal), is to let it rest and cool down a bit before putting it on a charger.  I would also advise against charging outdoors under those conditions.

I don't doubt anything that you have stated but I do know that there has been a significant change in the rate of my charging maybe it's the wear and year on the battery?

It could be. Your phone 3-4 years old now and has been through many charge cycles.

This was a refurbished phone that I got to replace my broken phone. I have the battery protection on which only allows my phone to go to 80%. All in all, I suppose you are right. I just have to hold on until the release of the galaxy S26U.
