RCS is a carrier issue.  When you reset the phone, did you also reset the wireless network?

Google Messages uses RCS messaging via your internet, and defaults to MMS/SMS messaging via your carrier's network if no internet connection is available, so this wouldn't be a carrier issue.

Samsung Messages uses your carrier's network to send RCS (if available) and SMS/MMS messages, so any connection issues while using Samsung Messages is a carrier issue.

Yes, Google Messages uses your carrier's network to send RCS messages, whether your carrier supports RCS or not. It's Google's RCS Initiative.

AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon have there own RCS systems on their networks. Samsung Messages can take advantage of these platforms.

I had RCS on Samsung Messages when I was an AT&T customer, but lost RCS messaging when I switched to Mint Mobile, so I switch to Google Messages and now have RCS again.

It's a fractured system.

I don't watch youtube videos. I go by the information provided directly in the app. When one enables RCS chats, the carrier has to authorize it.

My husband's phone is shut off right now, so no carrier is being paid for. But when he has wifi, he is still able to text anyone else with RCS chats on, thru his Google texting app. So, @Dan2023, exactly what you said.

This is the settings screen for RCS chats in Google messages for my backup device, which currently has no SIM.  As I said, I am more inclined to go with the information provided in the app, than any other source.  I don't know how your husband is getting RCS without a carrier. RCS is a carrier specific feature. I don't even know how he's texting without a carrier.

Reboot and it will come back. It takes a couple of minutes.
