Casting doesn't work via Google Chromecast from my phone to my TV

I dont have a smart TV. I use Google chromecast and cast from Netflix and Youtube apps on my phone. But recently whenever I click on the Cast icon in these apps, it just attempts casting but then just stops.

I have tried restarting my phone and chromecast. The casting then works for the next few times/days and then same issues happens. 

I used the trick to clear cache and clear data of Google Play services. It worked fine again for a week then again the same issue.

I dont want to keep restarting my phone/ clearing Play services data(cause then I need to reset Google wallet and all other apps) everytime I want to watch TV.

Did it happen to anyone else? What is the solution?!

Its almost a 2 year old phone. I am using this casting regularly since an year. Never a problem. Started recently about 2-3 weeks ago.

Also, it still casts well if I restart the phone or clear cache and data from Google Play services.

Have you tried clearing the phone's cache partition? Maybe there are remnants of a Google play setvices update that needs to be cleared out.
To clear the phone cache:

1. Power off your phone. Hold Power and vol up buttons until Samsung Logo appears
2. Let go of both buttons when you see the Samsung Logo appear on screen. There will be a delay while it enters recovery mode.
3. Use the volume buttons to navigate through recovery menu options and highlight “Wipe Cache Partition.” Press power button to select this option. Confirm by navigating to the yes response and tapping the power button to select.
5. When wiping cache partition is complete, "reboot system now" should be highlighted; press power key to select it. The phone will reboot as normal.

Sounds more like a Google issue if you have to reset play services.

It could be your Chromecast device. There's an outage affecting older models.

Unfortunately it is not 😞

The chromecast is working fine with other android devices. Also, this is an intermittent issue. Sometimes the casting works seamlessly and other times it doesn't at all untill I restart the phone/ clear play services data. Moreover, this issue has starting occuring since about 1-1.5 months, and its happening more often now.

I just realized mine isnt working also. I unplugged, restarted and still not working.
Did you find a fix?

Google now says you should not factory reset the Chromecast and they will notify of a fix when they have one.
