I put my phone on silent when I'm in a theater or meeting.  After last update,  it now rings when call comes in and makes notification sound for incoming texts.  I don't want to shut phone off.  What is my alternative? This never used to occur.

You can also use theater mode for meetings (it should be preconfigured on your phone), or create a mode called "meeting mode" and set the parameters for silencing what needs to be silenced.  Once you turn that mode off, your phone will return to normal.  Just plain old do not disturb works, too (unless you have it set to let certain calls and notifications through).

You can turn your notification noises off by swiping down on the top of your phone screen. Click on the button next to your volume slider. When it has jagged lines and a line across the speaker, it will be on vibrate. If the button is greyed out, it is on silent. If the button has two lines next to it and the backdrop of the button is white, it is on loud.

This is the button you would have to click to customize your notifications and call sounds.1768154006216.jpg

You can also customize your notifications for individual apps in your settings. Go to Settings >> Notifications >> Notification Sounds (Sounds and Vibrations) and from there you can freely customize your notifications.
