Gemini power button issue

Gemini hijacked my power button. I disabled gemini and now I can't get settings to stay open when I hit side button. At this point I literally cannot turn my phone off. 

To clarify: I cannot use the settings> advanced features> side button option. settings shuts down every time I try. I found that option before asking for assistance here

You can switch the button back to power. Settings, advanced settings, side button. Choose your action. You can also pull down the quick panel, til you see the power icon and use that.

The power icon will at least give me a way to power down. thanks for that.

If your settings are shutting down when you try to make a change, you should clear your cache partition.  I am not sure this will work if the side button is till set to Gemini.  If it does not, when you shut down via the power icon, choose restart instead of shut down, and as soon as the phone restarts, hold and then repeatedly tap the volume up button.  It should work, though, as prior to the phone starting up, Gemini is not active, nor any of the button actions other than powering on.

That usually happens after an update or if the Settings app’s data is maybe corrupted.

Ironically while an update was downloading. Possibly due to me dialing Gemini before changing the function. now I just need to reset settings but it's not a typical app to uninstall and reinstall. 

Let the update install in the hopes of might change settings in the settings and fix the issue but no luck.

Hopefully someone will have a fix. I will look into it more but there are more knowledgeable people on here that may help with your issue.
