Have you checked your time and date settings? Do you have everything set to automatic? Your time zone may not switch if you are in airplane mode unless you have "set time zone by location" on. You can also turn automatic off and set your time/time zone manually.
A couple of tips for time zone traveling:
1) lock your calendar's time zone to your home time zone or else your appointments will change time and won't change back when you return. You will miss or be late for appointments.
2) put on the roaming clock on your lock screen (in lock screen and AOD settings), and/or use the dual clock widget on your home screen, and you will always know your home time and local time. Roaming clock only works when connected to a mobile network, while the dual clock always works.

I travel frequently and have never had this issue with any phone I have had over the years.
I have had this issue until I discovered this setting. I'd come home from a trip and discovered all my appointments stayed at the last time zone - although to be honest, they could have been things I added while away. I locked my calendar to insure it would not happen again. Besides, if I check my calendar while I am away, I want it to show the correct time.
