Galaxy S PhonesGo to Settings > Apps > Choose Default Apps > SMS App
Change to your preferred SMS application, in your case Select Messages. Also, if Google Messages were not working, you can Go to App's About screen and clear Cache and Data to start over with that.
Be sure to click " โ Accept as Solution" when you find an answer that works for you and drop some โก

Galaxy S PhonesThis is to guy saying "steps"...(not above me commentor) following as a responder to so called expert.* So this is not meant for Constellation poster. *
izephyr...Dude let me enlighten you. I use Galaxy A15 5g. There is NO SMS in settings list. There is NO Default apps icon either thst uou click on. It is the default already in the Settings list, not some icon you click to proceed. That info is incorrect. I had to type in the search window. It just is a list of apps with no SMS icon to turn on or activate to make Samsung messages default. "Default message" offered no search query in my text box. While I was trying just to tick default message for Samsung. I could not even find it on the Google how to directions! Also, why are there so many message apps if it is default you want specific for Samsung? on Play store? How are we even supposed to know which is the correct App? I installed one and I ended up on some really idiotic TEMU page with no exit from it, I had to hit the button on my screen minimizing all active items, clise the process and start over. I was not impressed! It was not even an app for Samsung messages! How is that even legal on Play store? Fake apps. Now I have 4 messages using Samsung icon but not! and everytime it opens a "setup sequence "every time. How often must we endure brain dead useless completion steps that never finalize?just chasing our tails prompted to install more garbage. Like we are supposed to know when its done. Computer geeks need to give us a logical step stop messing stuff up. AI is even making it worse.
