I'm curious about how AI works in mobile. Like, when I use features like face unlock, voice assistants, or those AI camera modes - what's actually happening behind the scenes? Is it all happening on my phone or in the cloud? I'm not looking for super technical details, just want to understand the basics of how these AI features work on mobile devices. Any explanations would be appreciated!

It depends on the AI function and how involved it is. If it's something like Object Eraser in Gallery, the phone's software is powerful enough to analyze the elements in the image around that object and extend them to replace the object being removed. If it's Circle to Search, the selected image is sent Google Search for results. If it's something like adding an AI element to a photo or Sketch to Image, the data may be sent to Samsung's servers for more powerful processing.

Some users, however, aren't comfortable with data being communicated back & forth. They can go to Settings - Galaxy AI and select "Process data only on device". They might be limited in the quality of results, but no AI processing will occur off the phone.

Functions like Face Unlock pre-date AI by a decade - that's merely the phone comparing your image to the one you'd saved... if it's a match, it unlocks. I hope this helps.
