Countless hours on the phone, in a store, on their social media. I've owned my phone for years. I do not owe them money. My husband's phone is unlocked. I hate these people with a passion for what they are putting me through. I don't know what subtitles to put torture under...

Sorry you're experiencing this. Carrier locked phones are a nightmare.

Even if you do manage to get the phone carrier unlocked, be prepared for issues if you switch carriers, such as being unable to update the phone in the future. To resolve that, if you get Tmobile to unlock the device, you will also likely have to have the device flashed to non- carrier firmware.

For your future devices, it is always best to buy factory unlocked devices directly from Samsung.

I hope you're able to resolve this.

Well finally someone with info I can use. I'll just tell tmobile to F off and I guess get another phone. Thank you very much.

You're very welcome. Again, sorry to hear you're going through this.

We have not had a phone contract or carrier device in our household in many years for reasons similar to what you describe.

So I just go buy a phone at the store and use it with any carrier. Don't buy one through the carrier. Correct?

I would recommend buying phones from Samsung.com. select the factory unlocked option and it will ship to your door.

You can require a signature for the package if that is a concern.

By law they have to unlock your device if it is paid off. They have to take off the carrier lock.
