I need to unlock his phone so I can get to his contacts and I would like to save his photos. I found a few programs that will unlock the phone but it seems like it will wipe his data. I don't want that. I believe i can get samsung to unlock it but I would like to get the photos before the funeral if possible. He has a Z flip 2 or 3 im not sure I know its not the new one. It should be atcleast 2 years old.

If you know his Google and Samsung account passwords, you can likely get his photos from his Google Photos account.  Photos and contacts are automatically backed up to Google, whether one knows it or not, unless specifically turned off.  The only way to bypass a password lock on a Samsung phone is to do a factory reset, which is why you would need to know both the Samsung and Google account passwords, as after a reset, the phone can only be logged into the original accounts, and you will need the Samsung password to restore the backup to gain access to his other data. Samsung cannot unlock the phone for you, but given the circumstances - with proof, they may allow you access to his Samsung account to change the password (I don't know this for sure).  Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. As realaud said, you cannot bypass the device's security features without wiping the phone.

While this may or may not be helpful to hear in this moment, It is often recommend to have at least one trusted emergency contact who can access your devices/accounts for this reason.

Again, condolences. So sorry to hear about your situation.

I always tell people to leave an envelope with those important passwords with their final papers.  Everyone should have a folder with final papers, even if they have not drawn up a will.

Absolutely. None of us are promised tomorrow, so it is wise to be prepared today.

My wife and I share all of our passwords and have full access to one another's devices. We also have family sharing set up so that our loved ones have access to our Google photos without needing access to our accounts.

One's mortality is not a pleasant topic to dwell on, but it is essential that we do.
