You awoke a sector of memory not visited since roughly 1977 when my girlfriend and another couple flew in from Mpls Mn and spent days exploring deep into the jungles of Florida where. cat walks nicely made with chicken wire at lower rail to keep creatures at bay, but the raccoons were clever and would drop down from branches overhead.
The jungle was thick, surrounded by strangler fig trees, and made it a bit spooky.
Then, I discovered that not far away were these huge swamp buggies with platform 7ft high that crawled through the deeper water surrounded by alligators ready to greet you by surprise.
Then, to top it off, stumbled into a high-powered airboat with aircraft engines to whip through the Everglades like worriers.
Then rented a brand new car large enough for four and all the luggage and headed North late night to Fort Lauderdale cruising through the miles of orange groves when all of a sudden,,, I shouted out to everyone sleeping,, hang on,, were about to crash going about eighty the rear end locked up and skidded almost 180 in best Nascar fashion and dialed it to a full stop into the only spot in median with paved cross over for emergency vehicles.
But seconds prior, I noticed a crack of light from the under garage door of the orange Grove shack.
I said I'm going to hike back there to see if help is possible." There are no cell phones for twenty years yet.
I knocked on the door, and this lovely older couple running the Grove welcomed us all in and not only had a phone, but fed us for the next 4 hours till the new car arrived.
But that didn't go well either, telling agent emergency flashers are on, impossible to miss.
Sure enough, couple hours later, the only vehicle coming and watched wrecker fly by with my new car vanish deep into the night, was making it frustrating for everyone plus keeping this couple helping us beyond there time
Call agent to warn them, and a couple hrs later, they finally come.
The two guys, probably from Jamaica, simply were clueless from cloud of smoke coming out the windows.
Loaded up our gear as they hook up the car, and off we go. By now one would think this is the end, not a chance. But I had to torture them a bit first at 90mph for a good 50 miles as they Chased me was fun. I asked them prior, there must be paperwork to sign,,, nope.
But there, in fact, was.
Great Pictures Captain, and thanks for waking lost sector..
Cheers
