I am not the kind of person who wants to micromanange my phone with tasks like manually turning location on and off to save battery.. that being said it's very annoying when phone services and google play services are pinging my location every MINUTE. My Fold 7 lost 16% of battery over night doing nothing from play services waking up 31 times. This kind of recklessness with location pinging needs to be addressed since one UI does not let users manage the google play services at all.. it just does whatever it wants and for the past year it seems to have taken a large part in killing people's batteries needlessly. After being on iphone for the last 3 years id thought maybe samsung would have finally gotten a grasp on battery management. not the case.

This is a LOT of cope that I'm not going to bother addressing. But i will say, i did a full reset without using smart switch and it seems to be resolved. but go on about how it was normal.

Whether you believe your location was always in use or not and is normal is irrelevant - it was.  How do you thing "find" works?  You didn't answer the question of how much juice your phone uses over the course of 7 hours in the daytime. You also did not show me your battery statistics showing the power drain from location services.  Just how long do you think a battery lasts?  Most people have their phone on a charger at night so they can start their day with a full battery, not try to eke out extra hours.

Wow like someone's going to come on here and lie about battery usage. My battery dies uber fast. I have to constantly charge it but it's an older model 20 note plus and I have lots of apps I just keep it a charging I know it's aggravating but I don't have the money to replace my phone right now

I'm not saying that person's battery isn't using extra power, I'm saying it's NOT because of the location being accessed all the time. It was ALWAYS being accessed all the time. The battery usage for location is so negligible that it doesn't even register as battery use in the battery usage stats.  They should use their battery statistics to find the real culprit of the power bleed.

As for you, your battery is dying due to its age and use.  Run a diagnostic on the battery.  If I were you, I'd start backing up anything and everything important to me to an external device, as you don't know when the battery will bite the dust completely.  Put all your infrequently used apps to sleep, so they don't tax the battery by running in the background.

@user0Y61y893H7 your not wrong. Intrusive location checks began with android 15. So if you go into APPs and track down Google play service if you look closely you'll find settings in those settings you can disable that an many other things. Then make sure you go to Google from your settings an disable precise location. You'll also have to set maps to only while using. But regardless what's said it is a problem. When location is off on Android IT SHOULD BE OFF. That said you can disable these things an your phone will work just fine. Maps an all. Except you will be back in control. 👏

I'm having the same issue ever since I updated to One UI 7 in April. Reached out to Samsung two times and got different answers so I understand your frustration. Hopefully, it will get fixed with One UI 8. You can disable the icon from showing using GoodLock but that is not ideal. I'd also like to add that it's occurring on my S8+ tab, but not on my S23. 🙄
