Fold & Flip PhonesSubject title explains it all. To add more context, my phone is currently experiencing several issues. I can no longer fold the phone because if I do, the phone shuts off completely, and it has to be powered back on by unfolding and pressing the side button.
I've been keeping my phone unfolded since that issue began about 2 months ago, as it is not a big deal to do so.
It is also really difficult to charge the phone with a wire due to charging port issues. So, in the meantime, I've been using my handy Samsung wireless charger which thankfully charges the phone as it is unfolded. However, today I experienced a very inconvenient issue:
My phone was below 10% charge, so I placed it on the wireless charger like usual. Normally, the phone then indicates that it is charging by displaying the charging animation, but this time the screen just stayed black!
I did notice after a moment that the low battery charging indicator popped up on the screen which usually comes on when the phone is off due to a low battery. I tried turning the screen on by pressing the side button, but it would not turn on. I figured that the phone would still charge anyway, so I let it do so for a few hours while I went to sleep. When I woke up and turned the phone back on (and thankfully it did turn back on), the charge was still below 10%! The red indicator light on the wireless charger was steady-on when the phone was on it, so I'm not sure why the phone did not charge at all.
Last night, I did notice that my phone screen was turning on in my pocket and the camera was taking photos and videos, so I disabled a setting that allows the screen to be turned on with a double-tap. Other than that, I have no clue why the phone may be acting up in this way.
For further context, the phone is refurbished and was purchased on Back Market in February of last year. When I started having issues 2 months ago, I did request a return through the insurance that was provided by Back Market. However, I did not return the phone yet, and it's looking like I might have to do so.

Fold & Flip PhonesThe Phone turning off when placed on a charger, especially when folded, can be a frustrating issue with several potential causes. It could be a hardware problem, such as a faulty hinge flex cable or battery connection. It would be advisable to contact a Repair Center to have it checked to see what could be causing the issue.

Fold & Flip PhonesThanks for your reply. I'd just like to clarify that when I place the phone on the wireless charger, it is unfolded. If I fold the phone, it shuts off completely.

Fold & Flip PhonesYeah it sounds like the flex cable is damaged and needs repaired since it’s doing it when you fold it

Fold & Flip PhonesI've been meaning to turn the phone back in for a reimbursement through Back Market for that specific issue.
In the meantime, I've been keeping my phone unfolded. Not sure why the phone is no longer charging on the wireless charger though.
I still have my old ZFlip 3, and it charges on the wireless charger fairly well.

Fold & Flip PhonesAnything could have happened to cause damage to the flex cable if you’re still able to return it I would and get another one if possible.

Fold & Flip PhonesI appreciate your responses. I'm just not very clear on how the flex cable issues affect the phone being charged on the wireless charger. Especially when there was no issue before. I'm not understanding why simply laying the phone flat on the charger causes the phone to shut off and render it unable to charge haha.

Fold & Flip PhonesWith the cable’s being damage would impede the battery’s charging process. The two batteries, one on each side, are connected by the cable, which allows charging when the phone is open it’s getting a connection to charge. However, when folded, the cable experiences stress, making it not functionality and shutoff.

Fold & Flip PhonesI see. I guess it's just frustrating because the phone was able to be charged unfolded with the wireless charger with no issue before today, despite the flex cable
