Is the phone actually overheating, as in shutting down to protect the phone, or does it just feel warm?
You can download Good Guardians and use the Thermal Guardian module to identify and prevent heating issues.

I understand that a powerful chip like the Snapdragon 8 gen 2 can produce a considerable amount of heat, especially in such a thin and compact device. If you are coming from a device with less processing power, it can be uncomfortable and concerning at first.
Your device has built-in overheating protection. If the device were actually becoming dangerously hot, the device would shut down to protect itself.
If you are concerned about the heat, you can switch to a light performance profile in settings and use the tools available in Thermal Guardian via Good Guardians.
