Fold 6 One ui 8 android 16 update- in phone app with fold open keyboard recents

So I have a fold six and just downloaded one ui8 Android 16 and now with my phone app open and my fold open the keypad, recent & contacts are in the left hand upper corner where they were below the keypad.

 My thumb didn't grow overnight another 6 in to be able to use this feature. 

If you have it closed it's at the bottom like it's supposed to be for a one-handed operation

Anybody else experiencing this?

Contacted Samsung after an hour and 10 minutes texting and then connecting to my phone they said to report it. 

Because you can't change the phone app once you update it. It has to be done by Samsung on an update.

@TrevorATL I'm pretty sure that this by design to better use the real estate of the bigger screen. I see the same on my Fold 7.

I see this after the update to Une UI8, and it's not helping to have the icons in the upper left side of the screen in the phone app. There is no better use of the screen estate because the phone app should be practical and very easy to use, and this design is not helping. We are forced to hold the phone with two hands, and use the left thumb only to acces a basic function of the phone. At least we should be able to swipe left or right to move between dialer - recents - contacts. Or give the option to move this controls to the bottom of screen.

Samsung please fix this usability issue.

You have the placement of the buttons along the bottom when the phone is folded. This is perfect for one handed operation.

They could have made it just icons instead of this ugly menu bar that is a different shade of black than dark mode.  It also off centers your dialpad, recents, and contacts.  They didn't make this silly change to the messaging app which looks and functions beautifully.  They could have also provided the option to keep it the same like they did with swipe gestures.  Just another example of Samsung fixing something that wasn't broken.

I unfold with both hands, then use it with one hand until I'm forced by one ui to use both hands.

When the phone is unfolded, put the phone app in split screen or pop up mode. Now the buttons are along the bottom for one handed use.

Yea, but it messes up the side by side view when to actually use the call log and contacts buttons.  That was one of the features that I liked.  When you have it unfolded in the phone app and you tap a call from the call log, it shows at a glance info like the contact info, call log for just that particular caller.  Now the whole thing is off centered with this ugly menu bar that don't even match dark mode.
