I'm essentially stuck with either extending my screen, which I can't launch apps on my external display, they open on my phone with no way to move them over, or screen mirroring, so my screen is stuck on the whole time.
Both of which suck because it's just a blown up mobile experience.
Also, it's just using the current launcher (I don't use oneui's launcher) which makes everything that much worse.
Really frustrating since everything else in the beta is rock solid so far
I believe you might have enabled the desktop mode in developer options? i have a quite normal dex experience with app and search buttons on the taskbar all im missing is alt tab and the windows/super/option key not opening the app launcher I dont use oneui home either
I'm not seeing that option, but it does seem to be stuck behind the oneui launcher now. Absolutely a bad call on Samsung's part. It was nice having any launcher and then dex just control the external display when plugged in.
I am using niagra as my launcher and I can even launch another launcher inside of Dex (I tried with Nova which is... interesting...) (Edit: external desktop mode is now called enable freeform... and its at the very bottom of the Dev menu, I have it off)
Ok, free form was off. Playing around, and jumping back and forth between launchers, I finally got apps opening on the external screen, but since it still just adapts the current launcher into landscape mouse and scales everything horribly, it's still a mess.
I enjoyed having my phone setup 1 way and desktop set up differently. Or just default to oneui on the 2nd screen to give a semblance of usability.
Ok, think I have it figured out, guessing Samsung **bleep** something up.
With my launcher (in this case, ms launcher) plugging in the external display brings up the scaled version of the launcher and **bleep** up the way the launcher works on the phone... On the ext display, I just use 4 fingers to swipe up (guess an alt tab would work too if using a keyboard?) I can close the launcher and there is dex in all it's glory. We'll, it's not as great as the previous version, since I have to redo everything since only the bg carried over, but I'll take a mild inconvenience over a massive inconvenience anyday
