Gallery: group similar images

Anyone having trouble with the "Group similar images" feature in Gallery app (Pictures tab)?

For me, it seems like it's not working for any images before April 1, 2024 as if there's a limit to how many images can be grouped or a cuttoff date. 

I've submitted the report, but I'm curious if others are seeing the same, and if anyone has somehow found a fix for it.
