Calls answered on Watch7 automatically transfer to phone

I bought my Galaxy Watch7 LTE (40mm) in July 2025, and it worked fine for making and receiving calls. About two months ago it started automatically switching the call to my phone (S23 Ultra) as soon as I answered the call from my watch. I went thru all of the settings and do not see a setting to tell it to do this, but something is causing it!

My husband has the exact same phone and smartwatch (44mm), and he has no problems with making or receiving calls on his watch---it all works seamlessly as it should. We compared all settings on both watches and phones and made a few adjustments to match his. I also toggled on/off the Bluetooth to reset it and then tested an incoming call. I answered from my watch, and it seemed to be fixed!

The next day, my watch reverted back to the same problem! I continued to look for reasons. The volume on my watch is turned up to full volume, but the caller's voice doesn't come thru, instead it comes thru on my phone.

When the call automatically transfers upon answering, I see what appears to be a "call transferring" icon on my watch (it's a cell phone with a right arrow). This is very frustrating! I have looked at all of the troubleshooting info in the watch manual, but nothing seems to fit this problem.

I also did an online chat with a Samsung agent and all he did was copy/paste some troubleshooting info from the manual, which I already tried with no fix. The chat was short and he seemed inexperienced. He suggested that I send it in for service. However, I am still trying to find a fix before I resort to sending it in.

Yesterday I did a backup and factory reset on my watch, but it didn't fix the problem. I also verified that my phone and watch have up to date software. It seems this is an issue with a setting, but maybe it's a hardware issue after all? I don't think I should go to the trouble of sending it to TX for repairs if it's just a software or settings issue. Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any suggestions for me?

Thank you for your reply. I will try to do this. However, it doesn't sound like you have an immediate fix for my watch since you do not have any suggestions for me to try. In this case, do you recommend that I go ahead and open a repair ticket and send it to your facility in Texas? At this point the watch is useless for the primary purpose that I purchased it, which was to receive and make calls when I didn't have my phone nearby.
