I have a Samsung notebook model NP300E5A-A05US which was purchased in 2012. It had Windows 7 Pro which has been updated regularly and now runs on Windows 10 Pro. However it will not update to Windows 11 since the CPU is an intel i3, x86 Based. Since it works fine for me I though I could change the OS to Lynux; but, I need what distribution would be best to convert this lap-top to. Can you help me determine the best distro I can get to load in this Samsung lap-top?

Hello! Thank you for reaching out! This is a community for troubleshooting Samsung devices. Unfortunately, we would be unable to help with the best Linux distro to use. A Reddit tech sub would be better, or Stack Overflow could help.

But, Win10 will no longer get security patches. I'm going back to Linux. It's been a few years, and I'm trying to figure out what distribution i want.

If you like using Linux and find it comfortable, that's great. Personally, I do not like Linux and I prefer Windows 10

the reason it's not allowing you is because more than likely like you said the processor and stuff but this is known issue for a lot of people it's a way that the PC companies thought you would have to buy new rather than keep old going, just like me my old desktop worked well but I couldn't update because it didn't have the TPM 2.0 minimum, but instead of having to throw it away I just bought a USB drive TPM 2.0 and then it installed but yeah stick with Windows 10 because you can try with Linux and all that... hopefully you're familiar with it because if you're not that's going to be a pain in the butt to run but anyways that's my opinion

It's due to the older processing and age i would say also of the component

OK guys all those comments are valid but provides me no suggested real answer. All I'm asking is what Lynux distro be best to install on an old i386 laptop instead of staying with windows 10 which is ending support and updates soon.

Most recent Ubuntu will not install in that Laptop since only runs on 64bit machines and so on with other distros. That is all.

Any suggestions for the possible best Lynux distro that will work well on an old i386 pc?

No more consideration about Windows 10, please.
