Hi, I'm using a Galaxy A15 on One UI 8. In the Modes & Routines app, the 'Samsung DeX' action appears even though this device doesn't support DeX.

When I created a routine that turns DeX on when opening an app, the phone tried to activate it, switched to a mirrored screen, and then SystemUl restarted after locking the screen.

It doesn't brick the phone, but the unexpected DeX option and the SystemUl restart seem like a bug. Just wanted to report it.

I also found it by accident today. It worked on my M33. I had connected to my laptop's screen. But you need to be very careful because if you turn off the screen while dex is running, the phone instantly reboots.

Also I have never used dex before so I don't know if that was normal for the screen to stay awake and look the same and for it to show it in dex mode on my laptop.

Might be just a mistake from samsung. But the fact that it can connect makes me question that non-suported devices could run DeX

Yeah, that's very interesting... I found that you can also access the DeX settings by searching for "keyboard" in the phone's settings.

But if it works (partially) why don't they fix it and make it available for everyone? Do they just want us to get a more expensive phone?

That most likely to force more expressive phones. Adding DeX to midrange phones would make DeX less exclusive
