Hello everyone
I have a Galaxy A53 5G bought new on the net, in France (I am French) in2022.
After upgrading from OneUI 7.0 to OneUI 8.0. The SIM card is no longer recognized, and the airplane icon is grayed out.
Samsung France tells me that it is a phone intended for the American market (XAA/XAA/ATT), and that I must therefore question Samsung U.S. to get an answer on this bug.
Bug: I downgraded to OneUI 7.0, the sim card was recognized without pb
Have you been aware of such a glitch? Is a patch conceivable?
Clarification: The update is also XAA/XAA/ATT
We are several in France to be concerned by this Pb
Thank you for your feedback
Sincerely

A Series & Other MobileThe A53 has reached end of life for major Android updates. It will not be updated past One UI 8.
It appears to be a US factory unlocked device running AT&T carrier software. I'm very surprised that you were able to update it at all in France. Are you saying that you had One UI 8 but somehow rolled back to One UI 7? How did that happen?
If the phone is now stuck on One UI 7, you won't be able to update to One UI 8 without an AT&T SIM connecting to AT&T towers (i.e., it won't happen in France). You will need to visit a Samsung service center to have local firmware flashed to the phone. You should then be able to update using a local SIM.

- it was announced that the last (=end) update will be OneUI 8.5, possibly in Februar 2026 after the launch of the S26
"Are you saying that you had One UI 8 but somehow rolled back to One UI 7? How did that happen? "
- Downgraded with Odin and the official firmware...Otherwise, it would have been trash !

- That is exactly what I wanted to know; Thanks !
"You will need to visit a Samsung service center to have local firmware flashed to the phone. You should then be able to update using a local SIM."
- I tried to do it twice with firmwre"XEF". Nothing to do, apparently
Thanks for your help !

A Series & Other Mobile@Vilain-Garnement Sorry, but this is a user to user discussion area and we pretty much have zero information on non-US Samsung devices. The /DS designation in the model name indicates that this is an international device, not a US device.
