I have a A16 5G Galaxy Phone and hands down.It is the worst phone I've ever owned in my life.I will never get this phone again.I recommend you don't get a phone such as this. It's slow, it freezes up.It's horrible.

A Series & Other MobileHey there, one thing that I found is helpful to run every once in awhile is the device check up feature in settings. It will do a lot of the work for you and easy to understand if there is a suggestion for an improvement for a specific area of your phone, I'll share a link from the help articles for more info, hopefully this Keep your Galaxy phone or tablet from slowing down with Device Care
https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10001953/
Will solve the problem! Have a great day

A Series & Other MobileI used to have a Galaxy A16 and returned it for the same exact reason. I only lasted with it for a month from how bad it was. My understanding, the phone itself was not made with the best software. The camera too, is poor.
I would encourage you to upgrade as I did.

A Series & Other MobileThe A16 is the lowest end of of the lowest end budget phones. As such, it really is a basic phone that does some stuff. You can't expect S series performance from an A16. It works perfectly adequately as a phone, for basic web browsing, navigation, listening to music, etc. If you expect to use it for anything other than puzzle games, you bought the wrong phone. I understand that many people are on limited budgets or simply do not want to lay down big bucks for a phone, but a little research on specs and reviews prior to purchase may have prompted you to go up one model. The mid and upper range A models are much better than the basic model. That being said, the A16 is perfectly fine for hundreds of thousands of users.
Depending on the storage capacity of your device, it may slow down if it's overloaded with apps. Even on high capacity phones, a minimum of 10% space should be left unused. Apps need space to work, and the less swap space that is available will mean that the swaps will take longer and cause lag, freezes and slowdowns. If the A16 has an SD slot, utilize that to store your photos, music and data and only use your internal storage for apps (again, leaving adequate free space).

A Series & Other MobileWalmart sold you the broken phone. That a phone is defective on startup happens sometimes - that's why there are warranties. If your fingerprint reader was bad from the start, you were likely still in your return period from Walmart and should have returned/exchanged it for a different phone. Samsung cannot help where you live and the fact that there is no authorized repair service in your area is not on them. They have contracted with a major phone repair operation in order to have the most locations available. Every one can't be across the street from users. There is a "for pay" option of having a technician come to you and you have the option to send the phone to them - but that means being without your phone for about 2 weeks.
Is the fingerprint reader actually defective? Have you run a diagnostic? Could it be that it's some glitch with the software and you just need to do a factory reset?
A word of advice when buying any product: If it's defective out of the box and you are within a store's return period, return the device to the store. After the return period, it then becomes a warranty issue, but you are still limited to the repair options Samsung offers under the terms of their warranty. Even if they were going to replace your phone, you would still have to send your phone back to them for examination/repair first.
