I bought a brand new smart tag and when I tried to register it, it says that it's already registered to someone else butwhen I opened it it still had the little plastic thing for the battery so I'm confused on what to do. I've tried resetting it by removing the battery and inserting it while holding the button but that didn't work. I don't know what to do.

Contact Samsung with proof of purchase and they should be able to help

Take the battery out of the smart tag2.
Let it sit with no battery for about 60 seconds, then while pressing and holding the one and only button on the thing reinsert the battery at the same time but continue holding the button until you hear a chime that time you hear means that you completely reset the smart tag.

Then it's user error because I've literally had to do it to two of my four smart tag2's after upgrading devices and forgetting to unpair them. Make sure you are fully depressing and holding that button before the battery even begins to be reinserted and continue holding it for her as long as it takes until you hear a different chime than the others you would be used to.
