A Series & Other MobileOn A54. This feature doesn't seem to work very well. I understand it uses front camera to detect face. When it works, it does extend the screen time on, beyond my default screen timeout of 30s. But it just takes a moment of putting the phone down or changing the angle, then when looking at the screen again it stops working and the screen turns off. It's super annoying. I've used this feature on Sony Xperia previously and it was much better. Some third party apps solve this, but it's not ideal and they tend to not work well on my device for some reason. I just wish Samsung implemented this feature better, for example detecting phone movement or angle etc.

A Series & Other MobileNow that you mention it, I seem to be noticing it's happening to me to. I don't know when it started happening (probably after the November security update). I only noticed it the day before yesterday -- I thought it was because I looked briefly away from the screen, but it continued to happen. I probably didn't notice it before that because I am usually continually scrolling, so I'm touching the screen. This time, I was reading a long, complex article and noticed the screen fading out (my timeout is 5 mins). I am not obsessed with battery use because I know how to read a battery indicator and when to charge my phone and I keep a power bank with me.

A Series & Other Mobile### **Tips to Improve Face Detection**
1. **Clean the Front Camera**: Make sure the front camera lens is clean and free of smudges or dirt.
2. **Check Face Recognition Settings**: Go to Settings > Biometrics and security > Face recognition and ensure it's set up correctly.
3. **Improve Lighting Conditions**: Ensure there's adequate lighting when using face detection. Poor lighting can affect its accuracy.
4. **Update Software**: Make sure your phone's software is up to date, as updates often include improvements and bug fixes.
5. **Restart the Device**: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues.
6. **Remove Screen Protector**: If you're using a screen protector, try removing it to see if it improves the face detection.
### **Alternative Solutions**
- **Third-Party Apps**: While you mentioned they haven't worked well for you, it might be worth trying different apps to see if any offer better performance.
- **Contact Samsung Support**: Reach out to Samsung support for further assistance. They might have additional troubleshooting steps or updates that could help.
I hope these tips help improve the face detection feature on your Samsung A54. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!
You might need to upgrade your phone to a samsung galaxy s24 or ultra for more features you want..

A Series & Other MobileYou shouldn't be telling people to upgrade their (newish) phones. People chose their phone models for a reason (whatever their reason may be). I, for one, researched the specs and features of the A54 to make sure it had what I wanted and nothing of what I didn't. Regardless, the feature of keeping the screen on while viewing is inherent in every model phone from every manufacturer (phones would be useless without it). Only on Samsung does one actually have to enable the feature, on other phones it's automatic.
