Good morning all, I have a galaxy A16 5G that is so corrupted with malicious ads that it won't function. Needs factory data reset but can't get into settings.
You can go into recovery mode to factory reset your phone.
To access recovery mode on a Samsung phone, power off the device and then press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the Samsung logo appears, then release the buttons.
Use the Volume buttons to navigate to "wipe data/factory reset" and press the Power button to select it. Confirm your choice by selecting "Factory data reset" and then "Reboot system now" to restart the device with the reset complete

As @LongHiker said, your ads came from a third-party app. Those games that are advertised as "free to play" come with the hidden cost of ads and possible malware. Next time you notice ads, take a look at what you installed recently and consider getting rid of it.
