Having reviewed all the security features & options & not finding an option for this :

How do I prevent Galaxy store from installing apps without my approval?

So tired of opening my apps page to find games I would never install or play on phone.

Hate it. Help.

Go to the Galaxy store > tap on settings (gear logo on top of page) > tap "auto update apps" and choose (never) option.

Note: games are auto installed by phone carriers on locked devices, and the galaxy store has nothing to do with that setting. It happens to be in the agreement that you sign with the carrier that they can install apps at their discretion. Just hit uninstall on the game app. Most likely, they will keep returning.

Carriers bundle games and other apps into updates because they are paid to do so. Companies can make deals with carriers to have their apps auto-installed on carrier locked devices.

I'm on an untethered tablet experiencing the same thing. Carriers have nothing to do with this problem.

Your experience is abnormal and should not be occurring if you have a wifi only model or a factory unlocked cellular model.

Samsung devices do not behave as you have described unless they are running carrier modified software. Samsung does not auto install apps on ANY device running factory unlocked firmware.

By an "untethered" tablet, I assume you mean you purchased a tablet that has cellular capabilities but is not currently connected. Is this assumption correct?

If so, and if you purchased the tablet from a third party retailer (such as Amazon or another retailer) instead of directly from Samsung, then you likely have a carrier unlocked device rather than a factory unlocked device. Third party sellers often mislabel these devices and sell carrier unlocked devices as if they were factory unlocked. In which case, your device is still running carrier firmware and auto-downloading the unwanted content over wifi.

If all of this is the case, the only way to fix this would be to flash the device to a firmware not associated with a carrier in any way.
