OneUI 7 committed a wifi blood letting. The reason I went from accessing wifi across the street, to zero wifi after I updated is because -now- I have to be within yards of the router or no wifi!

My 6 year old Galaxy Note 9 has no issues picking up wifi at great distances, but now my 4 month old A16 can't see anything unless I'm breathing down the neck of the router. HEY SAMSUNG AND GOOGLE, THIS IS THE LAST ANDROID PHONE I BUY!

I was using wifi from a restaurant outside to download and install a software update. Once installed and after rebooting my phone, the restaurant wifi is gone. I can get it on my Galsxy Note 9, but not on my A16. How can I fix this?

First try resetting your WiFi and BT settings under settings, general management, reset.

Make sure you also clear your device cache:

1) Turn off your device.

[Your device may need to be connected to a powered USB device (ex: computer) before proceeding to the next step.]

2) Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Side/Power button until you feel a vibration and the Samsung logo appears. Let go of the buttons.

3) You will now be in Android recovery. Use the Volume buttons to highlight "Wipe cache partition."

4) Press the Side/Power button to execute.

5) Use the Volume buttons to highlight "Yes."

6) Press the Side/Power button to execute.

7) "Reboot system now" will already be highlighted. Press the Side/Power button to execute.

Thank you for your time. I did it all and wifi is still absent. With the issues I've had re: non-existant (lazy, ignorant) Samsung CS and Google's "Ignore users" CS format, I'm seriously considering moving to Apple products. Thanks to Samsung, I can no longer use wifi for updates, or anything else for that matter, but I'm grateful for your help. Thank you for chiming in😊

You're welcome. I suggest running phone diagnostics under settings, device care. There's a WiFi test that can indicate whether there might be a hardware problem.

I did do that and it says wifi is normal. I wish Samsung supported their products. Their nonexistent support is the reason I stopped giving them $1000 for a new phone. I'm glad too that this phone was $200, albeit overpriced at that. 😊 Thanks again for being so helpful. Samsung should hire you so you can train the others!

Thank you, I appreciate that. Just so I understand, is WiFi working in general but you're unable to connect to that particular network?

Yes sorry, I wasn't clear. All the wifi networks that appeared on my A16, including the restaurant wifi, were gone after the update. They all still appeared on my Note 9. Because wifi on my old Note 9 still sees the networks but my A16 doesn't, it tells me it's the OneUI 7 update that caused the issue. That's what I think anyway.

Ok, I think I understand now. Your saved networks are gone but your WiFi is still functional. Resetting the WiFi settings would've done that, too. (I may have inadvertently exacerbated your problem. Sorry.)

I'm sorry you lost your saved networks (not sure why the update would do that), but you should be able to reconnect to them. Go into settings, connections, WiFi, 3 dots, advanced settings and make sure "WiFi network notifications" is turned on.1751250054036.jpg

I didn't save any networks and wifi networks was blank when I enabled wifi before I reset the network & cleared the cache. I followed your instructions and discovered that wifi syncing and network notifications were both off! Thank you OneUI 7 update!😡 I'll try it tomorrow at Starbucks. I don't have access to wifi because I'm not home. I'm sure it'll work now. You're amazing! Thank you!
